It’s Weather for Ducks

It’s Weather for Ducks

I’m not sure why people compain about rain they call it nasty – weather for ducks! (Though I’m not exactly sure why it’s only weather for ducks, and not swans or ibis.)

And when it rains, people run for cover, so they don’t get wet – like cats!

But it’s just water, and something about its trip from the sky makes your hair soft and shiny. (Possibly the lack of chemical additives during the water treatment process.)

When it rains, you can recover your lost childhood and jump in puddles to see how high you can splash.

And watch birds, and possums, and snails drink from them when you’re done.

It’s not like we don’t need the rain to make our food grow.

And when we survive the cold weather for ducks, we’re more grateful for the hot weather for lizards. (And vice versa.)

Though sometimes, now and again, I would like to curl up under the blankies and sleep it out like a great big, shaggy coated bear.

But in the meantime, I’ll get out there and enjoy the weather for ducks. I’ll jump in the puddles and kick them about.

Then I’ll come home to a warm shower, snuggle under a blanket on the couch, and watch old movies.
