June 2020 Progress Report

June 2020 Progress Report
June 2020

June 2020 feels like a five-minute disaster movie sandwiched in between a bunch of other disaster movies in a century long disaster movie marathon.

And yet nothing’s really happened.

Though it’s been a little bit funny how wrong so many of those disaster movies and novels got it.

Pleasure: Adventure
Plan and take an international vacation late Q3/early Q4.
🙁🙁On hold. I suppose I should abandon all hope of taking an international vacation this year. At the moment it’s looking hard enough to take one here in Australia.
Pleasure: Recharge
Read 78 books
🙂😐This month I added more books to my reading list than I took off it! I’ve now read 61 of my target 78 books • Almost Just FriendsThe Freelancer’s Survival GuideBeware!: R.L. Stine Picks His Favorite Scary StoriesSuperpower: Australia’s Low-Carbon OpportunityThe Little Book of Feng Shui: A Room-by-Room Guide to Energize, Organize, and Harmonize Your SpaceLick • Not to mention the ones I started reading and then abandoned so quickly they didn’t make it to my list.

Though discovering hench was a laugh out loud moment.
Friendship: Friends
I love meeting new people, and as I am friendly and outgoing, I make friends easily.
😐😐Staying in virtual touch, but I’d really like to go out for lunch or dinner somewhere!

Though sometimes, just being alive might be enough.
Friendship: Creatures
My creatures are happy and healthy and find my garden a haven.
🙂🙂I hear them, but I don’t see them. Now that the heating is on more often, the house smells quite doggy. It’s starting to feel like the right time to be looking for another dog.
Friendship: Contribution
I share my knowledge, time, and money with those who need it.
• Develop a charitable works programme.
😐😐The same as usual, online forums and discussions.
Beauty: body
I enjoy exercising my lean, healthy 59 kg body several times a week.
• Eat < 5g of salt and sugar per day.
• Walk 10,000 steps per day.
• Sleep 8 hours each night.

Skin cancer removal scar is looking fine. I don’t look quite so much like I’ve been glassed in a bar fight.

Thought about appropriate makeup.

After too many tummy attacks I decided I have to start taking probiotics and stop microwaving leftover takeout for lunch.
Beauty: garden
My garden is peaceful (lush and abundant, providing habitats, weather protection and a mystical threshold)
Q1: plan garden and start landscaping.
Q2: finish landscaping and start planting.
Q3: nurture and enjoy.
Q4: nurture and enjoy.
😐😐I’ve been too tired for much of this.

Though the idea of a Feng Shui garden was an interesting side track.
Beauty: home
I live in a comfortable home that soothes my soul.
😐😐pfft again.
Wisdom: growth
I learn and grow every day.
• Visit a historically or culturally significant venue or event each month.
😐😐Well. Not going out much, but I have taken advantage of a bunch of free seminars.

Got lost down a clown magician rabbit hole, and thought about what normal might be.
Wealth: time
Turn the computer off by 7 pm.
🙂🙂Ummm…

I started publishing my short stories this month, and I’m excited people are buying them. I love the way they look lined up in a row under my name. And it turns out, I enjoy making the covers and writing the sales copy too. It’s all good fun.

Unfortunately, June 2020 saw the end of my short story streak at 59 weeks. I’m a bit sad about that, but it’s given me the opportunity to reassess and replan where I’m putting my creative efforts. More about that another time.

We’re back with increased restrictions after new Covid outbreaks. Not that much changes for me – one of the writers I follow mentioned that the restrictions many are chafing under are just normal life for professional writers, so I feel less bad about being glad of an excuse to not go out (yes I know it’s contradictory to want to go out and stay home at the same time).

I hope are all taking care of yourselves, and stay well.
