December 2019 Progress Report

December 2019 Progress Report

I’ve been so busy planning 2020, that December 2019 has become a distant memory. I’ve had to go back through my journal to see what happened.

VirtueNovDecNotes
Beauty: body
I enjoy exercising my lean, healthy 59 kg body several times a week.
• Eat < 5g of salt and sugar per day.
• Walk 10,000 steps per day.
• Sleep 8 hours each night.
😐
69.9 kg
🙂
68.8 kg
My new Summer dresses look good, are keeping me cool, and make me happy. And go pretty well with my black compression tights.

Dropped some weight, primarily from sleeping in and eating one large meal a day.
Beauty: home
I live in a comfortable home that soothes my soul.
• Work out how to take home renovation holidays.
🙂🙂The new fly/security screen has been installed, and looks great!

We need to do some roof maintenance, we’re wondering whether to repaint the tin to match.

Plus I’ve been doing a digital declutter which makes me feel a wee bit more organised.
Beauty: garden
My garden is lush and abundant, providing habitats, weather protection and a mystical threshold.
• Develop a new garden plan.
🙂🙂I’ve reserved some gardening books at the library to get stuck into next year.
Friendship: friends
I love meeting new people, and as I am friendly and outgoing, I make friends easily.
• Find (or start) a local writers group.
🙂🙂Had some lunches and drinks with friends. And went to the local Australian Society of Authors Christmas drinks and met some lovely people.
Friendship: creatures
My creatures are happy and healthy and find my garden a haven.
🙂🙂Pretty Girl has become a vampire dog that sleeps all day and paces three-quarters of the night. But she’s started eating again, and when she’s awake, she’s engaged with what’s going on around her.

We have at least six possums in the garden – four ringtails and two brushtails. I’m a little surprised they don’t fight more.
Friendship: contribution
I share my knowledge, time, and money with those who need it.
• Develop a charitable works programme.
😐😐Since November‘s trip to the High Country, it seems like half the country is on fire. And it’s horrific, even without the pall of smoke across the City. The stress of watching and waiting is an ongoing source of tension.

We’ve made donations, and thank you for yours, and your thoughts and prayers.

In the meantime, I offered some thoughts about Time Management.
Wisdom: growth
I learn and grow every day.
• Visit a historically or culturally significant venue or event each month.
🙂🙂Spent some time in the State Library, and the new spaces are magnificent. Must go see the Velvet, Iron, Ashes exhibition to see Ned Kelly’s armour and The Ashes (the cricket ones).
Pleasure: adventure
I am brave and adventurous not afraid to try new things.
🙂🙂Added another six short stories to my collection, but broke my long story streak (oops). Will pick it up in 2020. Wrote 19,873 fiction words.

And wrote a Dawn Chorus Haiku.

Got access to a 12-month trial of Amazing Marvin, a calendar/planning app. There are so many options it’s quite complicated to set up, but I can see its potential, so I’ve been plugging away at it.
Pleasure: recharge
I work hard and have the right to rest and recharge.
• Turn the computer off by 7 pm.
• Read 78 books in 2019.
😐🙂Bought myself a new fountain pen for Christmas – it feels comfortable in my hand and writes beautifully.

Read some books; Every BreathIron JunctionSaving YouBlowing the Bloody Doors Off: And Other Lessons in LifeTarot for Writers but didn’t meet my 2019 target.

I cannot recommend Blowing the Bloody Doors Off enough.

My December 2019 journal has several missing days, but an assortment of stickers including dogs, cats, hamsters and Totoros who are happy, thoughtful, tired or running. I’m pretty sure you get a good picture of the month from that.

How was December 2019 for you?
