Now that the year is half over, it’s time to check in for the 2016 Mid-Year Review to see how I’m getting on with the 2016 goals.

Beauty

Virtue

I take care of my physical well-being and surroundings. I live the authentic me.

Goal

Beauty has the components of body, presence, house and garden. At the end of 2015, I thought presence, house and garden had all progressed well, but I didn’t want to let them go. I had wanted to come up with new goals but ended up defaulting to my 2015 goals. And my goal for body was to reaffirm my commitment to getting down to ≤61 kg.

Review

Body: last weigh in 63.4 kg – less than January, but not much closer to the goal.

Rating: 🙁

Presence: I stuck with my guidelines, and didn’t make any purchasing mistakes.

Rating: 🙂

Home: I continued my cleaning and decluttering. We’ve been in this house more than a decade, so it’s getting on for time to do some redecorating and upgrading, so I think it might be about time to think about making a plan for that.

Rating 🙂

Garden: We worked so hard in the garden last year, so it’s been heartbreaking to lose so much of that work to the storms. I feel like we need to do over last year with new plants.

Rating: 🙁

Friendship

Virtue

I trust and treat other beings, as well as I, want to be treated.

Goal

Friendship’s components were creatures, friends and contribution. These were also business as usual (BAU) and by default last year’s goals.

Review

Creatures: continuing to create environments for the dogs and native wildlife. I’ve seen some creature changes over the last six months, though I’m not sure why they mean – probably related to storm damage. Or the fox.

Rating: 🙂

Friends: This was about making and maintaining friendships – “real” and “virtual”. My virtual friendships are thriving, and I am keeping up with old friends, though I feel need to develop new local friendships.

Rating: 😐

Contribution: In essence, contribution was about treating strangers as friends. One of the amazing things about virtual life is that it is so easy to do that.

Rating: 🙂

Pleasure

Virtue

I pursue activities for their own sake; meeting friends, international vacations, relaxing and recharging.

Goal

Pleasure consists of adventure and recharge; for 2016, I added trying new things and enjoying guilt-free moments of idleness.

Review

I’ve included experiments, and I’m enjoying them a great deal, though I’m still not reading as much as I would like to (outside of my book research).

Rating: 😐

Wisdom

Virtue

I have the capacity for choice so I challenge my thinking, live intentionally and courageously act on my convictions.

Goal

Wisdom comes from growth and choice. I didn’t set specific growth goals because I am learning so much about publishing, blogging and business stuff. Choices are easier though still limited by circumstance; kind of BAU but still needs work…

Review

I’m learning so many new and interesting things – I just wish I knew which ones were going to be useful before I started learning them (it’s a productivity/effectiveness thing). I’m finding making choices easier; I think that’s because I have been practising.

Rating: 🙂

Wealth

Virtue

I feel prosperous; my income meets my needs.

Goal

I set the same income target of $29,163 and the intention to spend less, though I didn’t quantify that.

Review

I’m not doing very well at earning money, though the books have the potential to make money for the rest of my life so I can’t be too upset about that.

Rating: 🙂

Overall

Lots of smiley faces. Ok, maybe not lots, but 60% isn’t bad.

Looks like I need to renew my focus on body, the garden, friendships (particularly new local friends), and new book reading idleness.
